For Those Who Love Chocolate

Last Friday, my friends and I went to Melting Pot. It's a cheese and chocolate fondue place in lower Queen Anne (well, they have 3 more locations in WA). I've had cheese fondue before (in Japan) but not chocolate fondue. Since I LOVE chocolate, I knew I'd like chocolate fondue from the beginning. Yup, I was pretty excited about it :) And how was it? It was awesome!!!

We had something called Yin & Yang, which is half white chocolate and half dark chocolate, just like this picture below.

For dippers, we had strawberries, banana, cheesecake, marshmallows, pound cake, and brownies. Gosh, just writing about this makes me want to have it again!! ;p

Chocolate fondue was really good, but the dining experience there wasn't very pleasant.. I have to say, our server was horrible, no the worst one I've ever seen. K, so here's what happened.

We sat down at a table, but our original server told us that we couldn't have happy hour deals unless we sat down in the bar area. She asked us if we wanted to move to the bar, and we did. There were tables in the middle, which were all taken, so we sat at a table by the wall. We were sitting there for about 10 minutes, yet no server came to take our orders. We knew it was kinda busy, so we weren't upset or anything.

Then, one server came to our table.

Server: "Did anybody seat you guys here?!"
The tone of his voice wasn't very friendly, rather it sounded like he was pissed off.

Nite: "Yeah."
Server: "K, I'll bring you the menus and some water."

OK start? ...NOT! He didn't come back for over 10 minutes! When he came back, my friend ordered one beer. And how long did it take him to get just one beer? 15 minutes! (Notice we hadn't even ordered chocolate fondue then.) He came back with beer after all, but still not cool.

Server: "So what do you want?!"
I was pretty shocked. That is NOT how you talk to customers... Also, when he brought us the settings and plates, he was just slamming them upon the table, making really loud noises.

He didn't come check on us much the entire time we were there. Even when he did, he said things like, "What you need now?!" He was acting pretty aggressive.. One time he came over and asked us if we wanted some more water, so we said yes. Guess what? He never came back with water! The next time he came back, he had our check in his hand. And the thing was, our check wasn't in a guest check presenter (a bill holder?). I saw other customers getting those, so it wasn't like they didn't have them.

In short, our server sucked! Well, he was so bad that it's a funny story now ;p Oh, and we didn't get happy hour deals after all.. Seems like you have to sit at one of the tables in the middle. I don't know why our first server moved us to the bar area because she must've known all the tables were taken..

Anyway, I'd love to go back there...only if I don't get that server ;p
