Tears

There are days when you cry for no reason
Tears just keep coming out
You have no control over it

Who says you can't cry without a reason?
Who says you always have to be strong?

Difference between half full and half empty
There are days when you can only see it as half empty

Like there are sunny days and rainy days
But we always see the clear sky after raining

If you can see it as half full after the rain,
why not just let it out?

流れた涙は蒸気となって空高く舞い上がり
あなたの心を軽くする

Irish Style?

This weekend, we went to a restaurant, called Shawn O'Donnell's, for breakfast. Yup, I'm going to write about breakfast again! Maybe I should make a new category...Anyway, it's not like we planned to have breakfast there beforehand. We decided to go into this restaurant just because we were very hungry and driving by it, which turned out to be a great decision.

This restaurant is also an Irish pub. Because of that, it's got various Irish beer signs on the walls and tap handles at the bar counter. They even use mini-whisky bottles for salt and pepper at the tables! I really liked its interior.

As for food, I'd say it's a little different but delicious. I had Monte Cristo, and my boyfriend had Ham & Cheddar Omelet and a pancake. You know, most restaurants' menu says "Pancakes (3) $xxx," meaning a stack of 3 pancakes. BUT this restaurant's menu says "Pancake $xxx," and our server brought us one gigantic pancake! It was probably about 10 inches in diameter. In spite of the size, this pancake was fluffy and really tasty. The pancake itself isn't sweet, and I think I can eat the entire thing by myself with no problem (if I order one next time) ;p

Monte Cristo was good, too. It's just I've realized that I simply like French toasts without ham or cheese.. I had hash browns with Monte Cristo, and I really liked their hash browns. However, it tasted a little different. So did country fried potatoes. I can't really explain what or how, but maybe that's the Irish style.

This restaurant is right by a drive-in theater in Everett. Next time we go to Shawn O'Donnell's, I want to check this theater out!

Never Know..

It’s often said, “You never know what you got till it’s gone.”
It’s so true, and you should never take what you have for granted. Nothing is more heartbreaking than realizing all you wanted was once in your hands.

However, as for relationships, some people want what they had back even when they were never satisfied with the person; it could be because of mere 'Naimono Nedari' (wanting something you don't have), emptiness, or loneliness. Whatever the reason is, it’s easy to get caught up in this kind of situation or feeling, and all you need to do is look at the facts, not your feelings or memories.

*****************************************************

You were unhappy and sad all the time
You wanted somebody else
You wanted to end it

Don’t ask all the whys and what ifs
Don’t say you really loved and still love him now
You know you can't..

What do you want me to say?
You know I can’t tell you what you want to hear..

Nice Weather, Nice Beach

It's the hottest and nicest summer I've ever had in Seattle! Last Saturday, my boyfriend and I went to a small island in Everett, called "Jetty Island."

Jetty Island is a 2-mile long island with sandy beaches. We get on a little ferry (or I'll say, a boat) to go to this island, which only takes a few minutes. What's cool about it is that the ferry ride is free! They accept donations, like a couple dollars per person, and that's how their ferry service has been free for over 20 years. I hope they can continue this free service so that everyone gets to enjoy it. The water is warm and shallow. I mean, it's really shallow. It's so weird because you can be out in the water, 30m away from the beach, and the water level is still below your waist!! The only thing that bothered me was seaweed. There is so much seaweed both in the water and on the beaches.. But I'd say, it's worth it!

We made and brought a Japanese style lunch box (Obento), which we enjoyed a lot. I love both making and eating Obento ①because it makes me more excited about the event, and ②because it tastes So good. I remember I always loved to go on a picnic or a trip with my family, especially with the Obento my mom made. I'm guessing, it's because of those factors: Spending time together with someone special, being somewhere you've never been, and being under the sunshine. Well, whatever the reason is, Obento always reminds me of good memories, and I think Obento is very important for picnics and trips :)

Since the water is shallow, families with little kids can have a great time without worrying much about the safety issues. Please check this place out if you live in Seattle area (Jetty Island beaches are open until September 1)!

Despite all the hot and sunny days we had last couple of weeks, it's raining and cold today... I really hope summer is still here!!!

Promises

******************************************************

I used to hate it when people make promises to me.

My ex-boyfriend promised me a lot of things.
"I'll never make you cry"
"I won't break up with you unless you want to"
"I'll never dump you, I promise"

I believed them all. I know it's silly, but back then, I was really hurt from my previous relationship. I was depressed.. But now I see that he was just trying to make me happy.

I didn't believe in love then, well, I just couldn't. Those promises and seeing him every day were the only ways to feel his love for me.

Of course, those promises weren't kept forever.
After that, I started hating promises. Whenever somebody promised me something, I cried. It just made me cry.

Because I thought no promise could ever be kept.
Because the word 'promise' made me think of the day when the person would say goodbye to me.

I just didn't know:
That a promise wasn't a guarantee.
That promises were mere words, after all.

Focusing so much on being loved, I failed to love him back.
Wanting so much from him, I forgot to give him anything in return.
Promises wouldn't be kept in this kind of situation.

All I had to do was try to make him want to keep his promises, not to be relieved or satisfied with the given promises.

I should've seen the more important thing; where those promises are coming from.

To my ex,
Though you put me through a really difficult time for a long time, I want to thank you for teaching me a lot of important lessons.

My Favorite Ice Cream

Well, actually, I'm more of a chocolate person. BUT there's one kind of ice cream that I love. That is...

Starbucks Mud Pie Ice Cream!

Oooh my goodness, it's good :p It's "coffee ice cream on top of a chocolate cookie covered in rich milk chocolaty coating." Doesn't it sound good?? The part I love the most is the chocolate cookie on the bottom. Without it, I don't think it'd be my favorite ice cream (yes, it's that important!). If you like chocolate or/and Oreo (and ice cream, of course), I bet you'd love this too :)

I usually get it from Fred Meyer and have never seen it at Safeway... Maybe it's just around the area I live in. Still, I wonder why regular Starbucks stores don't carry their own ice cream..

Anyway, please try it when you have a chance!

Last night, my boyfriend came home with some tulips and Mud Pie ice cream for me. That was a very sweet surprise <3

Lost

Complete darkness
That I was in

It didn't matter if I couldn't see anything

Thought I knew where I was going
End of this darkness

It wasn't where I thought it would be
I just kept going
Without knowing what else to do
Without accepting I was wrong

Scared
Lonely
Tired

I heard someone say “Let’s just stop”
So I stopped

Then I saw the light coming in
Brightened my world
Darkness is gone

I’m not lost anymore

Yesterday was...

My birthday! I had a really good evening. First, my boyfriend took me to El Paraiso, a Mexican Grill Restaurant in Everett, for dinner. We both had Fajitas, which satisfied our hungry stomachs very much (Well, a little too much and we felt like we could explode afterward..hehe). Their Mojito was also delicious!

During the dinner, he gave me one of the birthday presents. It was a weekend trip to Oregon!! I kept telling him that I wanted to get out of Seattle and have some quality time together. You might say, "It's not really a get-away trip because Oregon isn't that far from Seattle." BUT check this hotel (←click) out!! This is the one he reserved, and isn't it a cute hotel?? Obviously this hotel is very popular, and he even had to put his name on the waiting list to reserve a room (we're lucky that somebody canceled their reservation!). So I'm very excited for the trip :)

I love making plans for trips. I'd say that it's one of the most exciting parts about trips. You can think of all the things you want to do, and everything goes smoothly in planning (in your head), which never happens during actual trips. There would be always something unexpected, and that can mess up your perfect plans. I honestly think that's why people sometimes have more fun planning than going and spending time on trips. Of course, the unexpected is the key that makes trips more interesting and memorable.

Anyway, when we came home after dinner, I received a birthday card and the other present. That was a watch. Well, there's a story behind it. One day, he told me to help him pick a watch for his sister-in-law. So I did, and it turned out that was for my birthday last year! I was picking up a present for myself without knowing it. But..yes, I lost it after wearing it for a month or so; I was really sad and felt bad for my boyfriend. He knew how I've been feeling, so he gave me a new one this year!! What a nice, sweet boyfriend... I won't lose it this time, I promise!

And my birthday ended with a nice foot massage :) Thanks to my boyfriend, I had a wonderful birthday. Baby, you're the best and I love you very much!!

Now I want to thank all the people who sent me a b-day message. I'm so happy to have you all in my life <3 br="br">...it's kinda funny that I'm saying it here 'cause nobody knows about this blog.

American Breakfast

Yay, new background!! I can't believe I figured it out all by myself (Like I said, I'm new to this whole blog thing).. Good job, Nite ;p

Sorry, I got a little too excited. Let's get back to the topic, "Breakfast."

American breakfast is goooooooooooood. I don't think I can have American breakfast more than twice a week, but I'm sure I would miss it very much when I go back to Japan. Pancakes, French Toasts, Hash Browns, Sausage Links, and Eggs (I'm not really a bacon person). Man, just writing about it makes me hungry and drool! Since both my boyfriend and I love Breakfast, we go to places, looking for good breakfast. Today, I'm going to introduce Top 3 restaurants to you.

#3: Denny's

I know what you're thinking; It's a cheap, not-even-so-decent restaurant. But I have to admit that they have one of the best french toasts I've ever had. Their hash browns are good, too. On top of that, they serve breakfast 24/7, AND it's not expensive. I mean, you don't want to spend a lot of money just for breakfast, right? If you haven't tried Denny's breakfast, you should give it a shot.

Also #3: Bob's Burger & Brew

Well, you can't actually find this restaurant in Seattle. They have 9 restaurants in Whatcom and Skagit Counties. The closest one would be the one right by Tulalip Casino and Seattle Premium Outlets. Their specialty is brunch. It's all you can eat, and the food is SO good! They have a huge variety of breakfast items; it gives you hard time deciding what to have because it's impossible to have them all. Also, They've got an omelette bar, where a person makes your own omelette as you order. Bob's is a really nice restaurant, and their burgers are also on the you-must-try list.

#2: 13 Coins

I have to say this first; It is not cheap (well, it's not crazy expensive, either). BUT it's totally worth it! Their breakfast, lunch, dinner...in short, everything is awesome, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is great too. Most importantly, they have THE BEST hash browns!! For us, it's usually for special occasions, which makes it more exciting and enjoyable every time we go back there.

The Number 1 breakfast is... the breakfast my boyfriend makes! ;p

I'm serious, though. He can make really good french toasts, which he uses his Grandpa's recipe for. That's a golden recipe! And we cook eggs and sausage links, which we get from a grocery store. Frozen hash browns (in bags) are not so tasty, in my opinion. So we don't have hash browns when we make breakfast at home. My boyfriend's french toasts are good, and it's fun to cook together on a lazy weekend morning. That's why this is the number 1 breakfast for me.

One thing I really recommend you is sausage links with maple syrup. Simply dip them in the syrup and take a bite. It's surprisingly good!

If I exclude my boyfriend's breakfast, then it would be 3. Denny's, 2. Bob's, and 1. 13 Coins. If you like breakfast, you should check those places out!

Note: This breakfast ranking is based solely on my taste and preference.
